    Principal Advisor · CaroKahn Ltd

Gerald West is Principal Advisor at CaroKahn Ltd, a London-based advisory practice specialising in SAP security and controls across four domains: application access governance, continuous controls monitoring, data protection and security, and AI risk and controls. He has spent 28 years in SAP security and controls – 25 of them as a customer, including 16 years inside Serco Group plc, a FTSE 250 outsourcer, latterly as Head of Application Security and Controls, and the last three advising SAP customers on protecting and unlocking business value through their controls – keeping the ones that work, retiring the ones that don’t, and building the ones they are missing. Across more than a hundred SAP implementations and upgrades he has designed, run, assured and been audited on the controls most organisations are now trying to extend to AI, and has seen a good many of them fail in production after passing on paper. He is the creator of the AI Periodic Table, a free interactive map of the AI landscape with governance and risk lenses and an SAP Business AI edition. He holds a CISM qualification from ISACA and an MEng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London. At SAPinsider Copenhagen 2026 he presents a pre-conference workshop on the AI Periodic Table and a main-conference session, The AI You Banned and the AI You Bought.

    About This Session

Every organisation now runs two AI estates – the shadow AI employees smuggle in, and the approved AI arriving through copilots, embedded assistants and the SAP roadmap itself. Most govern only the first. Drawing on 27 years on the customer side, this session shows why approval status is not a data protection strategy, and how to govern both estates before EU AI Act enforcement makes the gap expensive.

ATTENDEES WILL LEAVE WITH– A two-sided map of AI data exposure – uninvited and invited – across the SAP estate– The questions to ask of any embedded or sanctioned AI before it touches corporate data– A practical governance starting point aligned to EU AI Act obligations.
